Una, only time for a quick review but this is such a beautifully worked little piece - I like the movement from brokenness towards wholeness, from detachment towards attachment, and I *love* the uses (both explicit and implicit) you've made of the reference in the title:
"...Now I know in part;
then I will know fully,
even as I am fully known."
Nicely tied in with all the imagery of sight, of reflecting and mirroring and focus. Very Faramirish.
So many brilliant one-liners that I can't cite them all, but I did particularly like:
"He sets aside the petty crimes - of being the wrong man, of living - " and the reaction to seeing Eowyn:
"and it is as if he is staring into a mirror, or has pressed his palm against a piece of broken glass." Just the idea that those two experiences would seem to be analogous says so much about his state of mind, and hers, and why they gravitate together so immediately...
I'm still making up my mind about the shift of voice from third to first in the last line - it's such a dislocation, but I realise that's the point. Or rather an un-dislocation, or a relocation, or whatever the opposite is.
By the way, have you seen the Baz Luhrman Romeo and Juliet? I was reminded of the scene where Romeo and Juliet first see each other (through glass, now I come to think of it! - a fishtank, IIRC) and reach up on either side of the glass to touch hands...
