This sends shivers down my spine to read, knowing what will happen within a short time.

I like the idea of Faramir as Year King,it seems very apt.
Beautifully writen and throught provoking.

Brrr. This is a chilling tale, especially in light of things to come. I feel sorry for Denethor that he can't see his son for what he is and for Faramir that he is always second to Broromir and whether Boromir is physically there or not doesn't matter to his father.

What a well-written, thoughtful first chapter. Employing the 1st person viewpoint through Faramir was particularly effective. I especially liked the description of the Gondorian celebration and the hint of Denethor's full-born madness to come.
