You described this as controversial, but I found it perfectly plausible. Earendil and Elwing must have been people invested heavily in their marriage bond, to whom children from that bond were only an afterthought, to behave as they did. I have often wondered about that whole business, particularly that Elwing was more worried about saving the Silmaril than her sons. And why should Elrond feel any connection to a his father, when that father had so little to do with his upbringing? I liked this story.

I'm a huge Silmarillion fan, and Maedhros and Maglor fan, and I love the way you discribed their relationship with Elrond.
