Bio: Greetings! I am a mathematics professor with a degree in history as well. A paradox, I know. I do enjoy the challenge my job affords me. It is quite fulfilling. Due to the professional path I chose to tread, history, therefore, has been rendered a hobby. And during my free time, I take pleasure in researching and writing about various topics of the past. As a matter of fact, a university press published my first scholarly nonfiction book in 2019. There are more projects in the works.
I have competed in a variety of sports from a young age and currently enjoy playing tennis and running. Traveling feeds my soul. Chocolate and sweet tea are utter weaknesses. Animals are pure joy. And I am steadfast in my conviction that the world needs more Faramirs.

Of Closed and Opened Doors

The aftermath of Faramir's retreat from Osgiliath.....with twists. Set in the Houses of Healing. COMPLETE
Over a decade ago, I set aside my love of Lord of the Rings, which was kindled in high school, in favor of researching an intriguing historical topic that I had discovered. It wasn’t a conscious decision. Honestly. Hobbies and interests naturally wax and wane. And then in January 2020 , I started having dreams that inextricably brought me back to Middle-earth. The reason and timing for such will always remain a mystery. The dreams have been intermittent, fractured, and incomplete. And in the hopes that my nocturnal disturbances will finally leave me be, I have decided to compose this piece.
So that perhaps I may have peace.
And yes, I have woven some of my research into this composition.
These dreams concern such familiar events, places, and names as the retreat from Osgiliath, the Houses of Healing, Imrahil, Eowyn, and Faramir. Other characters who have been mere wisps of ethereal presences also appear. I don’t know who these shades are or who they are supposed to represent. I have not even learned their names. So I had to craft some, in addition to filling in the parts of the story that have remained elusive thus far.
Please understand that I am a nonfiction writer. I deal with facts, matter-of-factly.
I don’t know if anybody will even read this or whether those who do stumble upon it will even enjoy it.
If nothing else, it involves Faramir. And that’s never a bad thing.

I made these with the help of AI. Please understand that I am aware of inconsistencies with these images. AI has proven to be fickle, and I have devoted many hours and utilized multiple websites and tools to try to bring this tale to life. I realize that AI is controversial, and I certainly mean no offense, especially to true artists. But for me who was born without such a gift, I think it is helpful in enhancing my work.
Some images depict the aftermath of battle and may be graphic to some. If this is disturbing and worrisome, or if you are offended by the use of AI-generated images, please read the original piece here on this site.
