Oh, this is so marvelous! I don't think I'll ever get caught up on all the stuff that's been posted this last year or so, but each time I manage to dip into your wonderful reservoir of Tolkien stories it's a delight.
This one is particularly fine to me. It's just... perfect: The characterizations and the dialogue and the beautiful descriptions and how everything unfolds into this glimpse of life both mundane and momentous for the Lord and Lady and their family.
Some special favorites: Leof's character; Faramir napping with a book, and barefoot; how Eowyn returns home; "Mother, naturally, was fastest"; the several-times poignant choice of scene in the tapestry; Mother's Night... oh dear, I think I'm actually just recounting the whole story. :) Really, it feels like it's been lifted right out of canon, and if Tolkien didn't imagine just this out of Faramir and Eowyn's life - well, he should have!
The final scene is especially glorious, and that image of Faramir and Eowyn dancing is seared into my imagination as if I'd seen them myself. Gorgeous, gorgeous.
It must have been difficult in some (many?) ways to grow up the daughter of such a strong, famous mother. Somewhere I have a thought that you've addressed it in a different story? Or is it just in the background of other tales?
It's been a long time since I've read Alawa's awesome story; I need to go back to it and make sure I was properly appreciative.

A lovely ceremony, and perfect for that evening. And love the Queen's Web!

Oh, Altariel, I thoroughly enjoyed this vignette! Your characters are well-drawn and distinct, and I just love the idea that Arwen would make a tapestry remembering the Oaths of Cirion and Eorl! It's sort of a follow-on to the tapestry at Meduseld, with Eorl arriving at the Battle of the Field of Celebrant... so, besides remembering the Oath, it might also remind Eowyn of home in a way. Very nicely done!
