This story, as well as its sequel, "Filled With Light as With Water," have haunted me for the last few days, since I finished reading them. They are beautiful examples of "filling in the blanks" fan fiction. The strongest part of the stories are the voices. Clearly, Larner took a lot of time to make sure the characters all spoke in ways consistent with Tolkien's. I was never taken out of the story because a character didn't "sound right."
The few areas in which the author took artistic license were well-chosen, and, again, I did not feel any of the "add-ons" were inconsistent with the "facts" Tolkien had portrayed.
I have often wondered what Frodo had encountered when he reached his destination after leaving the Grey Havens. Thanks for presenting your vision. I enjoyed it very much.
