Nessime!
I've not crossed paths with you in a while, and I just wanted to make amends for having overlooked this wonderful story for so long. This is truly a wonderful tale, and I so feel Hasufel's grief and remorse. To me it is no great wonder that a noble horse would mourn the master he has lost, and you tell his tale without the least hint of any anthrapamorphism. Instead, I hear the heart of grief and courage vowing to continue on - which I indeed see in the great grey horse who bore Aragorn in such dire need. Well done, my lady, well done indeed! :-)

A lovely story, Nessime-- you truly convey Hasufel's moving determination, and his devotion to both of his riders. An animal's perspective, without a hint of corniness! I especially liked how, at the beginning, the narrator could also be interpreted as being a human soldier-- it shows just how integral Rohan's horses are to the battle.

I enjoyed this very much and being from Hausfel's POV made a lovely twist at the end.
I'm a trifle puzzled by "Éomer knows that the éored must ride with all haste to lend its support to his cousin Théodred at the Fords of the Isen." as Theodred is already dead,or is it that the horse does not know?
Very atmospheric.
