Wow, this story requires some time to sit in my mind and sink in. Very gripping and in some places troubling... the idea that Finrod would be returned to his original body before it was mended and experience the mending, and relive all the physical sensations he'd experienced in his first life is very original and intriguing but also painful to consider (especially when it's Finrod, whom I've always loved).
I like how you've portrayed Finarfin. I recall from the HA Yahoo forum that you've expressed a sympathy for Feanor, which I share, but that doesn't mean his much-resented brothers weren't interesting or worthy of consideration. I find your Finarfin to be very believable given what we know of him directly from Tolkien and/or is suggested about him by the events Tolkien related.
I also appreciate the gulf in understanding between father and son about whether or not it was worthwhile to go to Middle Earth (and die). And the "empty-bright" eyes of Feanor's sons -- yes, I'll bet they were like that.
