I loved the ANGMAR BESTED chapter - a lot going on there, but Gandalf's fusion of magic and technology when using fire against the enemy was very impressive, and I loved Bucca's becoming the Steward of the Shire. And of course, the thrilling use of Aranarth's healing powers and the origin of the athelas rhyme we'll see in ROTK.

This story is filled with resolutions. Numerous answers that could be, all firmly tied to bits of the history Tolkien has revealed. They lie deep on the ground revealing themselves in phrase after a phrase at times. A reader has to stop and ask, could this have been? And then thinking for the possibility has to say yes. Larner has delved deeply into the what could be's of middle earth. And that's a satisfying comfort for many of us who what the secrets of how could and why so when it comes to events outside of Tolkiens words. The sentences run on most times, overly long it seems. This has a partial balance in that these run on sentences revealing many interesting connections. These are woven into a tale worthy of any true lover of a story that faithfully describe what could have happened in Middle earth. It's a tale where the characters and the events they are part of are important ones in the history of Middle Earth; the coming of the Istari, Maglor's fate.I have one question; Zigur's name is mentioned as a name for Sauron while in Numenor. Is that referenced as coming from Tolkien or is it Larner's own addition?

Denethor looks heartbroken, having to kill his friend in order to prevent him from becoming a wraith. Those Morgul blades must be terrible indeed.
Azog gives me the shivers, perhaps it is because I know what he will do later but I do not like him one bit.

Excellent extrapolation on bits of Tolkien's scattered narratives on the early third age. The best fan fiction I've read to date, I recommend it highly.
