Ooohhh, nice, Dwim. Not just the story itself (giving us an all-too plausible scenario of struggles among those facing down the "Pretender"), but you managed to add a human dimension to two of the characters I cursed so heartily in A Very Rain of Sparrows. Even an ambitious grandfather has a heart (at least a little one); and very telling, this about Sorrían: Her fate, to be a lass—she would have made a fine lad.
*reluctantly makes slight adjustments to previously conceived notions about Vorondur and his get*
