This story has long been one of my all-time favourite fanfics and I've read it many times, but never anywhere where I could review it.
I love this moving yet understated account of a friendship Tolkien made clear was very deep but of which he gave us few details. The characterisation is very strong, but I feel I know both of them a little better after reading this tale, although it leaves me wanting still more.
Favourite lines: "It has never been our way, in all the years we have known each other, to speak overmuch of things that touched us closest, so I will not make either of us uneasy now", which seems quintessentially Aragorn, and:
"But I fancy I may have found the coin to pay for a special delivery" he thought with a glint of mischief in his eye. "Some tales are just too good to let fall by the wayside." which captures Bilbo beautifully. Poor Aragorn!
Thanks for all the pleasure this story has given me, I'm off to read some of your other work that I haven't seen before.

This story is incredibly warm and enjoyable. Even a touch of sadness doesn't dim the kind merriment and sense of friendship. Thank you ever so much!
