Whoa, I thought the story would come to a nice quiet end now and, suddenly, there is some new adventure happening. That river crossing was evil. Poor Gilost, he will feel bad. I think there are a few men who need swimming lessons. Halbarad doesn't seem too confident either.

I forgot to say in my ff.net review that I loved the part about Aragorn hearing better than the other rangers. I always figured that he would have extended range in hearing, smelling, etc. because of growing up with elves, and the scene where he can hear the orcs (maybe also smell them!) is a good example of this.

I'm so glad you've finally finished this chapter. I imagine it was a difficult one to write, but I enjoyed reading it a lot. I especially liked the description of the attack to the orc den.
Yes, Aragorn must have felt immensely guilty about Halbarad's predicament, but I liked also the way you made him learn a lesson from it.

Ouch! Poor Halbarad. That hurt. And poor Aragorn, causing his cousin to get hurt. That will stay with him for a long time. Luckily there was some Athelas around. I love Halbarad's absolute confidence in Aragorn. I think that helps Aragorn to try even harder.

That was a good and satisfying ending to this story. I loved the idea of Aragorn taking up his father's sword. The last step for him to take on full responsibility for the Dunedain.
I'm just rereading In Aragorn's Safekeeping and just happened to read the chapter where Aragorn has the guilt talk with Thomas and refers this incident. Very fitting.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay you've finished it. It was a most satisfactory ending. Your Aragorn stayed true to character on the whole, and what is also very important readers could watch him grown under their very own eyes as every young man facing new experiences should.
It was a great story I mean to save, and reread again, and again, and again. :lol;
