Very moving story, and necessary, though I had not realized it until I read it. "...clear and cloudy depths of the palantir" sticks in my mind as representative of the deceptively simple choices we all make, whose consequences cannot be imagined and weigh upon others besides ourselves. The Ecthelion-Denethor-Faramir relationship is such fertile ground for exploring the powerful and often unintentional effects of family members' choices, as this story eloquently illustrates.

Great story, thanks for sharing! I love how amplificathon is making me listen to stuff I'd probably never read otherwise.

I listened to the audio version of this and enjoyed it a lot. I thought the end was very powerful, and although I was listening on my mp3 player while out for a run, somehow I managed to get all teary-eyed.
