I was touched by Faramir's getting this message from his past, showing that his mother's love was there for him, even though the couldn't remember her. But what I really want to know is what she told Boromir. Was she as perceptive about his future? What would she have said?

I enjoyed this, because of the novelty of its perspective. Finduilas so rarely interacts with Faramir except as a child, so for her to reach him at this moment is important. I wish, perhaps, that you had included a snippet of the letter's text. That might have made her even *more* real to the reader. But overall I enjoyed reading this story. Thanks.

I enjoyed this story. There are a lot of tales about how Faramir has been told that his father really did love him, it is nice to read a story that reminds us that his mother loved him, too. Her observation that this son would marry for love indicates how well she knew him, even if he was only five years old when Finduilas died. I also liked how Faramir shared the letter and the thoughts and feelings it invoked in him with Eowyn. Thanks for writing and posting this.
