I think I’d seen this somewhere before, and then (unhappy fading of memory!) somehow forgotten about it. Hard to imagine because this is tremendous: beautiful, truth-filled, lyrical. The unfolding quartet; the loose rhyme structure that works so well at the end; and marvelous imagery throughout but particularly - particularly the last quarter. The way you weave the words is just... I can’t describe how much I love it. I think you’ve really outdone yourself with this work on Nienna.
I love how you start with the false notion of Nienna, and lead to the true: always known to be needed, she is a crucial aspect of Eru to the world. The relative simplicity of Growing Things (still need her!) to the complexity of Knowing Beings; that there is a war. And the ending, childhood songs and blending of images, “mourn to morn”, sorrow to hope, “the child of grief and pity”. Damn! Shiveringly good.
And I just did a word count, and the first three “stanzas” are perfect drabbles. How do you do that?!
I can’t even list my favorite lines and phrases, because I’d be repeating the entire work. I really, really love it, Dwim.
And then I go to chapter 2...
Wow! Wonderful hymn/poem. Much of it reminds me of the Catholic imagery of Mary.
I love the contrast drawn between her brother and herself, and Nienna as the unraveller of fate’s weaving. Awesome stuff. Again, I don't know how you do it!

This is beautiful. I think you must be a poet at heart. The images are so clear and fit so well together. Thank you.
