Summary: Of blood and bloodlines.
"He is the heir of Elendil," from Dol Amroth, "Whether you want to acknowledge it or not."
"Of Elendil, perhaps, but not of Anárion." Pelargir.
"Elendil supersedes Anárion. His son is heir to both." The Warden.
"Through the third child. And a daughter, at that." Pinnath Gelin.
"The blood is the same." Lossarnach. "Son or daughter."
Pelendur surveyed the faces around him with that stare that had matched Kings before, took his time, lingered.
"Annúminas is but a ruin. As is the rest of Elendil's legacy in the North." A pause. "Will you see him do the same to Gondor?"
"On the death of Ondoher and his sons, Arvedui of the North-kingdom claimed the crown of Gondor, as the direct descendant of Isildur, and as the husband of Fíriel, only surviving child of Ondoher. The claim was rejected. In this Pelendur, the Steward of King Ondoher, played the chief part." (Appendix A, RotK)
